STAKE FOR OLD CAMPAIGNER, GUY FISHER WINS THANKSGIVING HANDICAP AT JAMESTOWN JOCKEY CLUBS TRACK. Claim of Foul Entered Against Him Is Disallowed by Stewards Three Horses Fall in First Accident of Meeting. Norfolk, Vn., November ITT. One of the largest crowds of tin; meeting turned out at the Jamestown Jockey Clubs course this afternoon. An attractive holiday program was provided, with the ,100 Thanksgiving Handicap as the chief feature. Like a majority of the other races, it resulted in a spirited contest. The winner turned up in Guy Fisher, which scored going away Iy a couple of lengths. There were six starters. Yellow Eyes being added and coupled with Genestn as the It. T. Wilson entry. Guy Fisher always had the call with the public and went to the post an odds-on favorite. Yellow Lyes threatened to make a runaway affair of it by going to the front and racing into a lead of three lengths in rounding the Mist turn. Guy Fisher caught him in rounding the far turn and the two ran neck and neck to the furlong post, where Yellow Eyes began to weaken. Guy Fisher then shook off his opposition but as lie forged to the front he began bearing over to the Inner rail and appeared to interfere with the chances of Itrynlimah and -Boh B. At the end illy Fisher led Yellow Kyes by a couple of lengths. Karrick, who had the mount on Yellow Eyes, lodged a claim of foul against the winner, and jockey Ward, who rode Itrynlimah, was also in the stand. The stewards deliberated for some time before signalling for the otlicial number board to be displayed,, but they allowed the placing to stand as the horses had finished. The first accident of the meeting came with the running of the third race, a dash of six furlongs for two-year-olds, in which three of the eight starters fell. The mishap occurred at one of the turns on the baekEtreteh. where Thelma .1. stumbled and went down and Zodiac and Captain Burns tumbled over her. .Schuttluger, who had the mount on Thelma J., suffered a broken collarlKine, while Zodiac-was quite lame when he was pulled up. The linisn Of the Tace found the first three noses apart, with U ttohn I. Nixon first home. I It was a close thing, between Balph Lloyd and Mr. Specs In the fifth race and there were some who did not agree with the flttipial placing, which gave the race to Balph Lloyd. The latter came from behind in the final furlong. The only riu-up of the afternoon came after Mimesis won tlic seventh race. Entered to be sold for 00, ho was hid up by J. W. Hedrick to and was retained. 1. O. Talbott, before shipping his stable to Charlcs-itin today, purchased the two-year-olds Gallant Boy and Flood. Jockev Charles Brady, wlio lias been riding for J. E. Madden, lias signed a contract to ride for Thomas Hitchcock, .V.. next season. This lad was developed bv George Miller, who turned him over to Mr. Madden last fall. J. Johnson, owner of the Quincy Stable, was an arrival from New York this morning. He has arranged to ship the two-year-old Master Joe to Gravesend to join the horses lie has in w.ntcr quarters there. My Fellow and Chief Magistrate will be disposed of. Jockey Ambrose, while riding a motor cycle in Norfolk this morning, ran into a grocery wagon and was seriously injured. He was conveyed to the Sarah Lee Hospital in an unconscious condition.
