COMPTON set a fast pace to the last eighth and tired badly when challenged by the winner. QUICK TRIP made up ground and in a fast finish almost got up for second QUARTER closed a big gap and finished close up. .MARIE COG II ILL ran fairlv well. FRANK OODhN and JESSAMY were forward contenders to the stretch, then tired and quit. MARY EMILY began slowly and raced into the lead midwav of the stretch, but was unable to withstand the winner. TOM CHAPMAN came with a great burst of speeil through the homestretch and caught HAZEL C. for third place in the last stride. The latter raced well and led into the stretch, but tired in the final drive. SWEDE SA.AI. COMMENDATION and MOLLER were prominent in the early running, but failed to stav.
