GOWELL PRACTICALLY THE WHOLE STABLE 4 J. T. Weaver was a lucky man when he came into possession of the fleet, game and staying filly, Uowell. As a two-year-old last year she Avon seven races and ,812 for him, while this year she was quite the best filly of her age and winner of 2,2S5, besides gaining for herself the renown of being the second tilly to win the Latonia Derby In its long history of thirty-one years, "Lucky" Baldwins great filly, Los Angeles, sharing that distinction with her. In the way of contrast, Gowell won from Great Britain by ten lengths this year, while Los Angeles only triumphed in a run-off following a dead heat with White in the race itself.
