MAKES NOMINATIONS FOR THE FUTURITY. New York, December 25. Gilford A. Cochran; who is going into racing in this countrv seriuuslv in 1914, has entered for the Futurity of 191i the lro-duce of two English mares recently purchased at Newmarket. They are Quair, by Orme out of Memoir, In foal to Cicero, and Glassjug. by Islingt m out of Amphora, in foal to William the Third. It is the intention of Mr. Cochran to bring the foals to America to fill their engagements here, while the mares will lie left in England. Bred as they are. such youngsters should be a valuable addition to the thoroughbred stock of America. Mr. Cochrau, though one of the most recent acquisitions to the turf, is wonderfully enthusiastic and he is a frequent visitor at the otiices of the Jockey Club. His purchase of broodmares shows the real siiortsman spirit and it is sincerely hoped that the coming foals will meet his fondest expectations. Mr. Cochran has made liberal nominations to the stakes that have already closed. During the season he purchased several yearlings that will carry his colors in 1914, but his purchase of the English mares is one of his most important turf ventures since he identified himself with the siwrt. The yearlings that have been named by Mr. Cochran in the stakes that have closed are: Bay filly by Sain Spindrift: bay gelding by Mazagan Domino Whist: bay gelding by Mazagan Faloniacita: bay filly by Disguise Homespun; and bay fillv bv Sir Wilfred Bettie Bramble.
