JOE WOODS moved into forward contention quickly and wrested the lead from FREEWILL on the litst turn, then was persevered with after being passed in the stretch and finally won through the overconti-ilence of OLD GOTCHS rider. OLD GOTCH came fast in the stretch and, taking the lead, appeared the winner, but his rider was looking on the other side and did not see JOE WOODS coming aguin and so threw the race awav. FRIEZE closed a big gap in the last half and linished with a rush. AVE raced forwardly throughout. FREEWILL set a fast early pace, but failed to stay the route. The others were always outpaced.
