WILLIAM LAKELAND AT POINT OF DEATH. New York. February 2. William Lakeland, owner and trainer of thoroughbreds, is reported dying today in St. -Marys hospital iu Brooklyn. He Is 51 yeai.-; old. Mr. Lakeland made a fortune as a trainer and owner of thoroughbreds. He first came into prominence when Exile won the Brooklyn Handicap of 1SS9. Domino was among the other famous horses he trained. He owned Electioneer when the latter won the Futurity of 1905. He began life In huiuhe circumstances, starting as a stable lwy and becomilng a jockey.
