BETTING COUP SUCCEEDS AT JUAREZ. Biggest Plunge of the Meeting Takes Place with Cos?rove, Winner of Handicap, as Medium. El Paso. Tex., February 20. Beautiful weather hcljied to draw one of the largest crowds of the meeting to Juarez today. Form students were rewarded by the success of four favorites. The Sal-tillo Handicap, three-quarters of a mile, was contested by a Held of four. W. C. Clancys Cosgrove was returned an easy winner. He was the most heavily suported horse of the present meeting, being backed .teadily from 5 to 1 until even money was all that could be obtained against his chances at post time. The reducing of his odds was not done witli one rub of the chalk, but took place by degrees. He broke well in his stride and raced Royal Dolly into submission before three-eighths of the journey had been ompleted. Captain Burns, a good three-year-old that had shown up well in his previous two starts, was giving away weight to the older horses and the task was too great. Resides, he met with a mishap rij:!it at the start. Vested Rights is an awkward horse at the gate and lias a bad habit of breaking witli a sideways motion. He hit Captain Burns and knocked him out of his stride. The colt gamely made up much of the lost ground and finished a fast going second. Price McKinney. James Corrigan and James Rilt-ier. Jr.. the latter having been a guest of the first-iiamed j two on the trip to their mines in Mexico, relumed here today. .Messrs.
