FORMER JOCKEY DIES AT SARATOGA. Saratoga, N. Y., February 20. Patrick Meaney, who 40 years ago was one of the best steeplechase jockeys in this country, died yesterday. Meaney, who was born in Ireland C5 years ago, became a jockey in that country and was brought to the United States in the early seventies by the late Charles Reed, who was then the owner of the Saratoga race track. After he retired as a jockey he trained thoroughbreds for the late M. F. Nolan, of Albany, and other owners.
