RABIUM ANB THE RACE HORSE. In one of his letters from Nice the Paris correspondent of the Loudon Sportsman said "I have been informed that Lutteur HI. owes his wonderful recovery to some kind of treatment by radium. 1 have not heard particulars of this remarkable cure, but it is certain that M. James Hennessys champion steeplechaser has returned to the turf apparently as sound as ever, after being a cripple for nearly two years. Trainers will all rejoice if some new treatment has been discovered which will supersede firing and blistering and will restore to a horse his lost powers. When Lutteur III. won at Auteuil last month he jumped as perfectly as ever, tucking up his hind legs behind him in his own peculiar fashion, and though the ordeal through which ho passed suc cessfully was not a particularly severe one. it showed that Batchelor had got him quite straight again. Of course, it remains to be seen if he will stand the strain of a rigorous preparation, followed by a race over the long and tiring Aintree course, but I believe all connected with the horse expect to see him render again a good account of himself, and I know that he has been backed by some French people without waiting for the weights."
