PREPARING AUSTRALIAN YEARLINGS. Already a large number of yearlings have arrived in Sydney with a view to preparation for the autumn sales in April, and it is wonderful what a difference the next six weeks will make in many of the youngsters. Nor can any breeder be blamed for sending bis stock into the ring with a deal of polish on them. The man who submits his yearlings "in the rough" can make up his mind that high prices will not fall to his lot, for beef and polish go a long way even with the most experienced of buyers. The various drafts will total well over COO for this- year. Messrs. W. Inglis and Son having alwut 400 to offer and Messrs. II. Chlsholm and Co. 220. So far none of last vears high-priced lots have greatly distinguished themselves, but with so much prize moncy to lie won in two aud three-year-old races there is more justltlcation in giving a high price for a yearling now than at any other period in the history of the Australian turf.
