NORFOLK RACING FORMFUL FOUR FAVORITES AMONG DAYS WINNERS AT JAMESTOWN JOCKEY CLUBS TRACK. Big Crowd in Attendance and Racing Is Spirited — W. M. Sheedy Suspended — Stare Disqualified and Jockey Corey Suspended for Rough Riding. Norfolk. Va.. April it. —One of the largest Monday crowds in the history of the Jaoneatewn track waa on hand today lo witness the running of a card of six races. The visitors were well rewarded, lor the racing was keenly contested and several finishes of the nerve training kind were witnessed. Favorites tigiireil prominently, four of them scoring. while second choices accounted for the ether races. The Juvenile purse, for t wo year-olds, was tin-feature ol tin- day. and It. ,1. Austins Comiuonada duplicated his winning performance of last wn-k in easy style. The tirst disqualification of the meeting came with the running of the fourth race. Stare, which finished third, was disqualified for rough riding after jockey Corey had bumped his w.i. through in the stretch ami Little Kp was moved up to the third position. Corey was -us pen. led by the stewards for the rest of the meeting Im rough riding. It wn announced this morning that the ring Iiml been pro rated and that there would be no addition-to i In- twelve layer* who cut in on Hie opening a. Henry Hani departed for New York Suiidav ami will take a rest until the opening of the Havre de Grace meeting. By order of the stewards the horses running in the name and Interest* of w. M. Sheedy have been suspended indefinitely. This action was taken under rule K»4. which states that a person who ha-been suspended and never reinstated may not train or be in any manner connected with a stable. Former jockey J. Reid. according to the steward-., bandied some of the horse* which Sheedy races. The latter i- willing to make an allidavit to the effect that Reid has never had anything to do with his stable and will take the case to the Jockey Club fol hi. ni ib ei-ion. J. W. p.eau was an interested spectator this afternoon and -aw his colors carried to victory by Striker and Jo.- Finn. C. Burtingame Sr. was aii-otliir arrival. Mackenzie, well known Canadian owner. wis an iirrival todaj and witnessed the running of the card. lie goes to Kentucky shortly to look over tin- horses thai Jack Adkins is training for him. Sam Panada and Joe Cassidy, two well-known New Yorkers, were noticed among the. visitors. They will remain for a few days. Sanclim. the winner of the hurdle race on Fri-day, threw out a -title and will be out of training for the rest of the season. Jockey McTaggart led the winning riders by scoring with three out of four mounts. The track was in good condition this morning when the following work-outs took place: Agnicr — Five-eighths in 1:04%.
