THE LOUISIANA RACING MOVEMENT. The legislative correspondent of the New Orleans Thaws-Picayune, writing of Hie introduction of Representative Reinhurdta bill providing for the repeal of the Louisiana ant i racing law and the creation of a lacing commission to have general supervision of tin- sport, says that in Hie Initial conflict over the question of its reference to committee ••he racing advocates are practically as sered in advance of success. Representative La bane, the racing erusader from the Seventh Ward. Inc. -ixt.v four Representatives pledged to support a motion to refer rba bill to the City Affairs Committee. Those opposed to the bill would like to sead ii to tie- ways and Means Committee, where il probably WOUM get among the rocks. ■As the city Allans Committee is compoaed of the twenty four city members of the House, racing advocates are hoping that the committee will aid tham in putting the bill-before the House in a favorable light. They plan a committee hearing in the House chamber, to which all the Representatives will be invited. A large delegation of New Means business nun will appear iu behalf of the measure. "Much hinges on the City Affairs Committees attitude toward the bill. With the referendum clause added, Mr. Iisnarrt hopes to get a unanimous report in favor ot the bill from the committee. Aii unanimous report would, the bills friends believe, have much weight with country members who are now undecided as to their attitude."
