; i ROBERT BRADLEY REDUCES LAUREL RECORD. W. R. Mizells Horse Runs Mile in 1:38 in Winning Feature Race at Maryland Track. Baltimore, Md., October 21. A new track record for a mile was made by W. It. Mizells Robert Bradley iu winning the handicap at Laurel Park this afternoon. He ran the distance In 1:3S, reducing by two-fifths of a second the mark made , two years ago by Azyiade. Robert Bradley was not the popular choice. On the occasion of his last appearance in the Washington Handicap, won by ltoamer, Robert Bradley, after chasing Andrew Millers horse for half a mile, quit utterly and finished last. In that race Tartar finished second to ltoamer. Today Tartar was third. The famous colors of A. II. Morris were seen in front for the first time at this meeting when they were carried to victory by the two-year-old Banquet, by Chilton Festa. Banquet was meeting a good lot of youngsters and ruled the public choice. He was in front from the start and won easily. James Butler took another two-year-old purse with the Delhi Coppolla gelding. Dervish, whicn beat P. S. P. Randolphs Carione a nose in a hard drive. The two placed horses were so close together at the finish that the judges only could separate them. .Many thought Carlono had won. The long shot of tile day was Hedge ltose, which won the mile selling race from Veneta Strome and Battery. Hedge Rose paid 1914.sh1 for iu the mntuels. W. T. Anderson lias decided to race his stable at Charleston and Cuba this winter and has arranged to ship south at the conclusion of the Havre do Grace meeting. There are only two yearlings in the Andersen string tiiis fall, one by Trap Rock Goldy Girl and the other by Voter Princessin, the dam of Royal Message. According to reports Frank M. Bray lias one of the best yearlings stabled at Sheepshead Bay. He is a colt by Cyclades. This youngster has outworked any horse at the track. Bray has another yearling that is attracting much attention. He is a half-brother to Jack Atkin. being by Star Shoot El Salado. James Arthur today purchased the two-year-old Heartbeat Irom J. U. Davis. Arthur has decided to fire and blister the two-year-old .Ed Weiss and turn hiin out for the winter at a farm in Maryland. W. D. Althouse will retire his stable at the conclusion of the Laurel meeting. He will shin his horses from here to his farm near Philadelphia. The jumper Leumas, -owned by Samuel a. Ross," which injured himself severely on the third day- of the meeting here. Is rounding to and will be ready for shipment to tiie Garth farm at Charlottesville, Vh., iu a few days. All of the prominent owners racing here will participate in the meeting. Working Lad took the closing race after meeting much bad racing luck. He was shut off three times on tiie backstretch and had to work his way through. Working Lads owner had to pay 05 to retain his horse, for when offered for sale Sain Louis boosted him from ,000 to ,700.
