1 BIGGER FIELDS IN ACTION AT JUAREZ. Improved Conditions of Track Responsible for Improvement in Sport at Mexican Course. El Paso, Tex., November 30. Continued good weather casued the track to be in better condition today than at any time since the opening of the meeting, and in consequence the fields were bigger than during the preceding days. Twelve two-year-olds faced starter Cassidy in the first race at five furlongs, and the winner turned up in Tower, from the stable of F. D. Weir. Knight of Pythias, the property of W. G. Yanke, was heavily backed, It being reported that the gelding had been working well since his arrival here. Marie OBrien ruled as favorite, but disappointed her backers for a second time. Black Mate won the third race, one mile, from Alelts. The liberal odds of 12 to 1 was laid against his chances. Jockey T. Rice rode him, this being tlie first mount that the rider accepted at Juarez since he left here two seasons ago to ride in Germany. Rice clearly demonstrated his skill, as he outgeneraled the apprentice rider Dealy, on Melts and it looked as if he could have wou on either horse. , The most stirring finish of the day occurred in the fifth race, when C. W. Gassers Kenneth won from Marta Mac in a nose finish. Mr. Gasser has been the most successful owner here. He has sent three horses to the post and in each instance they have been returned winners. The last race brought together the smallest field of the day. It resulted in a driving finish between Weyanoke and Mud Sill and the former won. The track is drying out fast and tomorrow should see some fast time recorded. The decision of the Juarez management to have a brief recess between each thirty days of racing is meeting with approval on all sides. It will give the horsemen a rest of a few days and also a chance to patronize the merchants in El Paso. Several hunting parties have already been organized for the first interval after Christmas.
