NOTES OF THE TURF. II. J. Morris has leased the racing qualities of Sunno from F. A. Herold. Al Koenigsberg has leased the racing qualities of his good filly Coquette to C. J. Quinn. C. W. Gasser, owner of Balgee and other horses racing at Juarez, is sick and in an El Paso hospital. R. II. Anderson, in whose colors Joe Morris won the Latonia Derby of 1010, has leen appointed postmaster of Georgetown, Ky., where he resides. AVilliam J. Treacy, who is connected with thi Kentucky Sales Company, Is recovering from a severe attack of sickness at his home in Lexington. The death of -William O. Bates, formerly owner of Stelcliff, Rose Oneil. Duke of Bridgewater and other horses. Is reported from Toronto. He died In a sanitarium and leaves a widow and three children. Financial reverses are said to have overtaken him. Emil Herz. whose horses brought from England last fall are leing wintered at Louisville in charge of Herman Brandt, is spending the holidays in Xew York. He will begin his racing campaign next season at Louisville and then ship east for the Belmont Park meeting. The Jockey Club stewards again formally refused, at- their last meeting, to grant a jockeys license to C. H. Shilling. They also refused a jockeys license to Joseph Clark, and tabled applications for jockeys licenses from J. Rooney and 15. Warscber. likewise an application from Alfred Xlcolal for a trainers license.
