TRAINING GOSSIP FROM CANADA Toronto Ont April 30 There are more good Canadian horses at Woodbine this spring than ever before at tills stage of the spring preparations aul they are in more forward condition than was ever the case in April days A good illustration of the satisfactory state of affairs was alTorded yester ¬ day when the Kings Platers Fair Montague and Tartarean In trainer Xlxons charge were sent a mile which the former did in 144 with Tar ¬ tarean close up They were nicely rated tho first cpiarter in 24 the half in 50 fiveeighths in 103 and threequarters In 110 This stands as the lest training mark of the season at the distance but it will soon be equalled It was a useful bit of work and the colts came out of it quite satisfactorily satisfactorilyPrivet Privet Petal led the Valley Farm Pinters Splutter and Last Spark with Geo M Hciidries Rtd Fire a mile in l50 their tirst at Woodbine track Privet Petal went a couple of seconds faster Red Fire is doing well and looks lile a certain starter though lie did not get to the K st last year He is a son of Red Fox II and tin Plate winner Sliimonese and promises to live up to hi pedigree pedigreeCharlie Charlie Crews Pepper Sauce a sou of Inferno and Xew Dance went a half in 49 fiveeighths in 103 and threeciuarters in 11G pulling up tin mile in 1415 Canute Jean went the last part of thu journey with him himNothing Nothing has been hoard of the old steeplechaser Bilberry since lie was shipped to the wars but yesterdays causualty lint brought news of the deatli on tho battlefield of his gallant young master Lieutenant Bill Jarvis
