CAPITAL RACING AT BLUE BONNETS Kingly Wins the Windsor Hotel Cup in an Ex ¬ citing finish with Commonada Back Bay Beaten Montreal Quo June 12 A crowd of close to record number turned out at Blue Bonnets this afternoon The day was ideal for outdoor sport and Montreal racegoers took advantage of It The clubhouse contingent was especially well repre ¬ sented Among those present was J K L Koss who obtained leave of absence from the Pritish naval service for the day Mr Koss had the pleasure of witnessing his good fencer Rryndown win the Prince of Wales Steeplechase I5ryndown was one of four starters that went to the post in this stake He was ridden by M OConnor and after being a distant trailer in the early run ¬ ning closed up with a rush and drew away into a long lead at the end Wcldship a great favorite with crosscountry enthusiasts in Cannda was second and L W Garths promising juniper Sun King was third thirdTiie Tiie big feature of the afternoon was the Windsor Hotel Cup a dash of one mile and an eighth with 1500 added This race developed a splendid con ¬ test in which Kingly beat Commonada by a nose In the early running Commonada was rushed to the front and set a fast pace In rounding the far turn Kingly passed him and just when he appeared likely to be an easy winner Commouada came again and regained the lead At the sixteenth post It appeared all over but the shouting but Jackson became careless and stopped riding Metcalf never let up on Kinglj however and the latter rcsiiond ing with great courage made another game effort and wearing Commonada down got up in the linal strides and snatched the victory from Commonada just as the finishing line was reached reachedThe The defeat of Hack Day in the threequarters han ¬ dicap was one of the real disappointments of the afternoon Hack Bay failed to show that keen turn of speed he so often displays and the finish failed to find him among the first three threeAmpltion Ampltion and Hampton Dame were excused from starting in the first race by the stewards The former bled in his workout this morning while Hampton Dame came out of her race yesterday cut down downJockey Jockey Callahan was suspended for the rest of the meeting for rough riding ridingJ J K Walker has disused of the horsn Rondel to N Macfarlane The latter turned Rcndcl over to Allan Ilulcroft who will bandit him in the future futureSheridan Sheridan Clark racing secretary at Connaught Park and Al Kohrbach manager of the Ottawa Jockey Club were both visitors at Blue Bonnets this afternoon They report five carloads of horses already on the grounds and that the plant has been overhauled since last fall There is much interest In the coming meeting at Ottawa which the man ¬ agement expects to be the best over hold at Con naught Park On the opening ilny which will i military dav a recordbreaking attendance is looked for forClint Clint Colby who was taken ill here a few days ago Is reported to ho holding his own and the doc ¬ tors In the Koval Victoria Hospital now have hopes that he will pull through throughHarry Harry ISlock was an arrival from New York lie will take Iu thu Ottawa and Hamilton meeting but at the conclusion of the latter meeting he will go to Saratoga SaratogaJockeys Jockeys Md tee and Collins two likely apprentice riders under contract to Captain W F Prcsgravc will remain in Canada in charge of A G Wes ton The PresgravcClyde string will probably be shipped to Saratoga some time next week Those that Mr Weston will race through tho Canadian circuit include Llnsin Cornbroom Billy Frew llaria Kagle Cliff Haven Lingar and Copper King KingW W 1 Kiggs who has been acting as one of the asociate stewards here returned to Baltimore last night He will stop over at Princeton to at ¬ tend a meeting of the alumni of his class at that college collegeJ J J Shannon after the running of the last race claimed Glint from Amos Tiirney for 930
