HILLCREST MEETING COMES TO AN END. Toronto. Int.. August 21.— The summer meeting of the Toronto Driving Club concluded at HiUcresI Park this afternoon. Rain fell up until nee time, which rendered tie track a rillc slow and muddy, but the unfavorable weather failed lo injure the attendance to any extent, fully 5,000 being present. The third race was so gr.atly reduced by scratches that it was declared oil. The changed track conditions ups, t the calculations of form students somewhat and favorites weal down to defeat iu the majority of the eight races. Tactless lasted longer today and defeated some sliiilv sprinters iu the fifth race. King Worth looked upon as the probable wtoner, was doing his best in the seventh to outstay Coreopsis hv a neck. Gerlhelina overtook Maiden Bradley only in the closing strides of the second race, bul the other winners won with considerable to spue. Theresa Bethel, running in the colors ,»f her new-owner. R. K. Chapman, pulled up lame after winning the eighth race. Jockey Bargee carried oft the riding honors with two winueis.
