Que., October 28. — It is reported that some owners who won races at the recent laid meeting in Montreal have been unable to collect the cash for the checks that were issued to them, hut it is understood that arrangements are being made to close up the liabilities at once. P. J. Miles. Campliell and Gray, D. A. Amhnch. C. N. Freeman. A. Berry and W. C. Capps are said to lie among the owners who are particularlv interested. Tlie meeting of the Dorval Jockey Club this fall was a financial success, according to one of the directors of the club, who stated that a net profit of nearly 818.000 had l eeu made, this being one of the few-meetings at which the club made money. T.ie greater part of this amount, it is said by a director, was devoted to paying off debts contracted previous to the meeting. The Dorval Park and Amusement Company and the Dorval Jockey Club are two separate organizations, the former having for its assets the property on which the plant is built, while Ma laGer has practically no assets other than the lietting privileges and the privileges of operating the plant.
