HARRY SHAWS FAST RACE WINS THE PIMLICO FALL SERIAL HANDICAP , AND MAKES A NEW TRACK RECORD. Aldebaran Wins and Is Bid Up— Butweil Changes His Mind and Will Ride at New Orleans-General Track Gossip. Baltimore. M,i.. November 9. — Harry Shaw, the liest son of Sain on the turf this year, added to his lam-els when lie won the Iimlieo Fall Serial Ilamli- I cap No. 2 this afternoon and equalled the American record f.ir one mile and forty yards. The race brought * smart field to the i-ost. with August Belmonts Stromlioli ruling an odds-on choice. Har="v Shaw was ridden by J. McTaggart. who succeeded in leaving the | ost with the leaders ami followed Holiday, the pacemaker, to the far turn, where he moved up and got on almost even terms. The pair then raced like a team through the last quarter and riglit at the finish Harry Sliaw managed to get his none in front and won by that margin. Strom-l»oli was in trouble while going to the first turn, where he was messed about, and when Rice got him dear he refused to do his liest. When he got to the leaders on the stretch turn he tired and was unable to Improve his |iosition in the last eighth. Juverence ran in the -olors of V. L. Crosby for tlie first time this afternoon, when he started in the Patapsco Steeplechase. K. K. Karrick. son of William II. Karrick. lias retired from the saddle and opened a public stable. K. K. Mitchell has turned the plater Colonel Cook over to him. Young Karrick will race a string at New Orleans or Havana. The Cassatt horses will lie retired for the year at the conclusion of the present meeting. They will ie wintered at Captain Cassatts Chesterbrook Farm at Berwyn. Pa.
