LOUISIANA CANDIDATES ON RECORD. Thomas Clyde. R. T. Wilson and Emil Hen to Race at New Orleans. New Orleans. La.. November 10. — Candidates for governor of Ixmislana were put on record yesterday as l.i their attitude on racing by the New Orlejns Protestant Ministers Association. Thomas C. Barrett, the Prohibition standard bearer was decided in his stand that he w mid en f no tlie laws and advocate further laws that would compel the local authorities to enforce state statutes. John M. Parker, the Independent candidate, replied as follows: "First — There is a state law providing for the re"iilatioii of racing throughout the state ami when conducted within the law there will be no interference by inc. "Second — I am not personally a patron of racing, but if the people want it and it is conducted within the law and along lines that are fair and clean I will not interfere. "Third — The enforcement of the law is largely Wt to the local authorities, and if a law is obnoxious its enforcement is impracticable." In substance Mr. Parkers reply implies home rule mid non-interference with racing when within the Col R- tt- Pleasants rejoinder to the questions was that if elected governor he would enforce the laws as far as the power and authority lie iu the governor to do so. The election for governor will take place on the first Tuesday of April and will come long after the race meeting at the Fair Grounds is over.
