CONFIRMS CARRANZA PROTECTION. El Paso. Tex.. November 10. — II. F. Brievogel. secretary of the Jockey Club Juarez, met in B Paso today Roberto V. Pesqiieira. one of tlie most prominent of the Carranza officials. Said Pes-queira. who was in FT Paso en route to Douglas and Agua Prieta to confer with General Alvaro Obregon and other officials: "While General Carranza will in all probability close some of the establishments in Juarez he will permit the O|M-rati0n of the Jockey Club Juarez until"-the concession granted them for a period of twenty years by a legal Mexican government. "The concession granted by a lcgsil government of Mexico will be upheld by General Carranza when he takes possession of the over-river |M rt. But the gambling in the Monte Carlo and pool rooms will lie closed. He has closed such gambling houses in the cities lie has taken possession of. The races at Juarez have always resulted in bringing a big influx of people into Juarez and it lias tended to increase the prosiierity of both that city and El Paso. The Juarez track has become one of the leading race courses of the country anil when Carranza takes Juarez he will grant Americans, who attend, full protection." This city is fast filling up with horsemen. Four additional carloads of horses will shortly arrive here from Kentucky and a big shipment is due here in the next twenty-four hours from the Pimlico and Laurel tracks in Maryland.
