Hall of the Jockey Club Juarez passed through Chicago yesterday en route to El Paso to resume his customary round of duties at the Mexican track. Wise Judge, by Golden Maxim — Verdict, won a middle weight handicap at Kenilworth, Africa, re-? cently. Wise Judge was bred by II. T. Ox nan. at the Blue Ridge Stud. Wise Judge also won the divided Ascot Handicap at Ca|ie Town. Allnvial. b. m, 5. by Waterboy — Gold, won the Flying Handicap at Johannesburg. Africa. There were six starters. The distance was about three- quarters and was run in 1:13%. The winner was bred by fie late Ja.ues B. Haggin at the Elmendorf Stud. Jockey T. Davies was married at Arlington. Md.. Thursday evening to Miss Tessie Hartuiann of Brooklyn. N. V.. which is also Davies home. Da-• vies recently left the employ of Capt. E. 15. Cas- satt and became connected with the stable of H. C. Hallenbeek. Next year he will ride for Schuyler L. Parsons an.l the Oneck Stable. The horse breeding industry in East Prussia i badly crippled for many years as the result of the Russian incursion there. Herr von Oettingeti. who succeeded the late Count Lehndortf as director of the Prussian government studs, has reported to the government that the Russians t«K»k away 20.000 broodmares of the highest class and uprooted the foundation of the horse breeding industry in that country. Jockey J. McTaggart was married at Baltimore Saturday to Miss Marie Cecelia MacDonahl of Cain-0 den. N. J. It was a church wedding and a re-0 ceptiou followed the ceremony at the home of Thomas McTaggart. 4922 Park Heights avenue, a brother of the gr.K m. with whom lie has been stop ping. Evidently Idle Hour Farm is to be well reinforced with English broodmares. Peter De Lacy, one of the foremost figures in the New York racing world for many years, is dead following an operation for gall stones in St. Lukes Hospital. Although seventy-one years old. he was. until last Thursday, considered to be in good health, hut on that day he went to the hospital, the operation proving fatal. Since the repeal of tlie Terey-Grey betting law by the legis-5 lafure in 1908 the name of ••pete" De Lacy has been seldom heard, atlhottgh for years it was one of the most common names mentioned. Persons wh.i know say lie. having amassed a fortune in conducting pool rooms and. was really largely responsible for the repeal of that betting law.
