CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Each Tuesday and Friday will be ladies days at Juarez. Ivan the Terrible will make the season of 191G at Hal Price Headleys Beaumont Farm, near Ixing-ton, Ky. Jockey A. Schuttinger is under contract to ride for John Powers during the coming winter meeting at Havana. Trainer Frank McCalie. who not long ago was one of the most successful trainers in this country, is living at Cravesend. Trainer Frank M. Taylor has seven vearlings in his stable at Oravesciid. They are said to be a particularly fine band. W. W. Harden has purchased from William Cerst the three-year-old bay colt Converse bv Ivan the Terrible— Colloquy. He will be retired until next year. W. J. Treacy. well-known turfman, who recently had a cataract removed from his rigbt eye, has ral; lied from a relapse, and be may lie able t.i leave the Jewish Hospital at Cincinnati Tor his home within two weeks. Rasch has stabled at Cravesend four yearlings: A bay colt by gden — Cop vist. a brown c.tlt by Ogdeu— Happy Kate, a chestnut colt by Cyclades — Black Pearl, and a brown colt bv Transvaal— Festa. He also lias Bronx Queen. Wood fair, a three-year old gelding by Stalwart— Mrs. Peg and the brown gelding Monmouth. Roamer has returned from Maryland looking the picture of robust health and without a scratch or pimple on him. In short he is as sound as the dav he was foaled, and he has thickened and filled out so noticeably during Its short let-up that his trainer predicts that he will lie even greater as a five-year-old than be was in his four-year-.. Id form. After Republican won the last race at Bowie Saturday for C. C. Smithson of Washington. Steve Judge advanced the horse to ,400 and he was protected by the stable. Ibis was the second time that Republican had been bid up at the meeting and the purse laken away from his owners.
