The small entries for the Two Thousand and One Thousand of 1017 are noted with regret by a London turf writer On the other hand, the nominations- for some other races have happily increased, the Granby Plate at the Craven meeting to seventy-three, as against fifty-seven; the First Spring Stakes to seventy seven, against fiftv-six: the Exeter Stakes to fifty-one, against thirty two: the Hopeful Stakes to fifty-two. against fortv-two; the heveley Stakes to eighty-six. against sixty-seven-the Prendergast stakes to fifty-two. against forty-eight: the Moulton Stakes to seventy-two. against sixty-three, and the Houghton Stakes to sixty-three, against forty.
