DWYER ACCEPTS TIA JTJANA APPOINTMENT. San Diego. Cal., December lO. — Dick Dwyer. who for vears has officiated as starter on various race tracks throughout the country, particularly in Kentucky and the east, has been named racing secretary and handicapiier of the new Tia Juaua racetrack. Mr. Dwyer. who now is in San Francisco, has wired his acceptance of a generous offer to join the official staff at the new plant, which positively will open New Years l ay. Announcement was made by the officials of the Jockey Club that three carloads of thoroughbreds have been shipped here from the Bowie track near Baltimore. Applications have lieen received from horsemen throughout the country for stable room, and it is the opinion of the club officials, that more than three hundred horses will Ik- at the track when the barrier goes up on opening day. Other officials named are S. J. Rothert. formerly connected with the livestock department of the San Francisco Exposition, and. until racing was closed down, an officer of lnith the Denver and Reno racing associations. Rothert will act as clerk of scales and entry clerk: Roliert liCighton. polo player and turfman of Vancouver, B. C. will fill the duties of paddock and patrol judge.
