IT WAS PARKINSON YEAR IN IRELAND. Features of the Irish racing season just closed that are noted by a Dublin commentator are the outstanding records of J. J. Parkinson and his son. Mr. W. J. Parkinson. The former, in his capacity of owner, has won fifty-one races, which is more than any other owner: as trainer he has 102 races to his credit, a new record for Ireland, while, again as trainer, he has had fifty-three winning horses, a number considerably in excess of the winning charges of any of his colleagues. Then, his son. with seventy-three winning rides, has not alone come out at the top of the poll amongst the horsemen, but in recording that fine score has left behind the late achievement of tlie late John Thompson, who in 1907 piloted fifty-three winners, a record which has stood until now.
