HAVANA FAVORITES PROVE DELUDERS. Havana. Cuba. January 9.— Showers fell here today but the Oriental Park track remained last. Favorites tared poorly for a change. It was not until the feature race of the day. a handicap at one mile and a sixteenth, that anything bearing resemblance to a favorite succeeded in scoring. Then Brave Cu-narder. which enjoyed ennui favoritism with Conflagration, carried the Bodwell colors to an easy victory, with Hloneliran and Dinah Do in closest attendance. Conflagration was sadly deficient iu speed and the finish found liim last. Charles Francis was held in greatest esteem for the opening dash, but lost all chance by pr. pping a-. the barrier went up- He closed a big gap and barely failed to run to a place. The purse went to Sal minis, tin- second choice. B. lirst was thought to have the second race at her mercy, but Sureget took her measure by a neck.
