Each was a great race bone, stout rather than : brilliant, and between them they wen nearly every long distance race of any importance in England. On the so.. re of racing merit tie- advantage lie- with Fisherman, as Maskel had no performance to equal the two victories of Fisherman in the Ascot Gold Cup. althoagll he won the Alexandra Plate at !. Ascot. Their -ind career- m Australia and New Zealand were brief but meteoric. The line of Fisherman in the direct line ha- become almost extinct; that of Musket is flourishing both in Aas-tralia and England .and show- ie. signs of coming to an end. All the |„.-t sons of Musket are dead but I a few of his grandsons, notably Wallace in Australia . and Spearmint in England, are worthily up- holding the line ia Au-tralia and England respei - lively.
