1 I • I 1 1 ■ 1 1 S RESTITUTION ASKED AT NEW ORLEANS. New Orleans. La.. March 20. — Some of the stockholders of the Business Mens Racing Association will seek to oust those directors who voted themselves and others* part of the profits of the recent Fair Grounds meeting. A demand will he made that the money be returned at a meeting next Wednesday nigiit. A committee of stock holders, headed by Archibald A. Marx, chairman, and R. S.. Eddy. Jr.. secretary, has sent out circular letters asking all stock holders to attend the meeting. Marx and otle r members of the committee refused to divulge their plans fir forcing the directors and others to return the money voted to themselves. "Some of the business men who went into the racing association are merely going to show the public that they are not going to stand for the breaking of their word or faith; that is all." said Marx, when asked for a statement. Iart of the circular sent out reads: "While appreciating the services of those officers and directors who have made a success of the asso-t ciation and who manfully opposed the pay— sat of salaries to directors and ollicers. we can find no words strong enough to condemn the action of these members of the board who, in the face of public opinion and with the full knowledge that their action would be condemned, have voted salaries to themselves to which we feel that they were not morally entitled, and we consider it the duty of all stock holders to demand restitution of the money so taken." "If you believe that the ra"es should be perpetuated .is a benefit to the city of New Orleans. then do your duty and see that the control of the association is placed in the hands of men who will act honorably and in the interest of the public and not for selfish personal gain."
