FEATURES OF THE PIMLICO MEETING. New York, April 7. — Pimlico will have varied conditions for the races to be run at its coming meeting. There will be many purses of 00. none of less than 1916.sh00 and long-distance races will be featured. Another innovation will be a raise in the scale of weights for riders. No horse will carry less than 100 pounds. The prime feature, however, will be claiming races and claiming handicaps for selling platers. A clause in the conditions will [ read: "All starters in this race, including the . winner, may be claimed for the entered price plus the winners share of the purse by owners having starters in the race." It is also proposed to have claiming handicaps under the same conditions. This i means thai if a winner is entered for S700 and his share of the purse is 00. it will cost a claimant ; ,200 to get him. making a total of ,700 for the . horse. According to advices from one of the officials i at Howie, the Jockey Clubs new selling race rule, so far. is not bringing about the desired object. There ioiv been many runups, in which part of the excess was divided among the owners of defeated 1 horses. L. W. Garth has bid up nine horses in i fourteen races and a selling race "war" is in l progress. "Later on." says the letter, "things s may settle down, but the new rule has upset things 3 a trifle for the time being."
