MUCH IS EXPECTED OF THESE JUVENILES. Names and Pedigrees of Choicely -Bred Band of Two-Year-Olds in Billings -Johnson Stable. By Ed Colo. Now York, April 14. —Messrs. Frederick Johnson and C. K. 0. Hillings will start the racing season of Utld with practically a stable of imported horses picked from the English farms by Charles T. Patterson of Ornament fame, with little regard to prices paid so long as the youngsters were up to his standard. It must be presumed under those condition that the Johnson -Billings string will have much to report at the end of the season if they live up to the expectations of their trainer and the desires of their owners. During the winter months the horses have been sheltered in the Curls Nock Farm stables, near Uichmond. Virginia, and are in a fairly advanced condition, though for the past week or two the ruins that visited Virginia put a stop to their work temporarily. They will all be transferred to Helmont lark next Monday for their final preparations. It was Mr. Johnsons intention to start the season at Havre do Grace and he may have two or three ready by the second week of the Havre de Grace meeting, but it is almost ] ositive that part of thr stable will go to Pimlico. There are sixteen in the collection, thirteen of which are imitorted. two. Pleasant Dreams and Old Drury. bred by Mr. Johnson, together with the four-year-old Top o th Morning, l oing the exceptions. The latter is being trained again, though his bowed tendon may give away under him at any time. Mr. Johnson, however, decided to give him another trial before his retirement. In speaking of the imported stock, Mr. Johnson said they were a nice looking lot. but that ho could not yet say just how good they would turn out. "Time anil results only will show that." he remarked. "Many a time 1 have thought I had a real good horse and it has turned out to the contrary. These may do the same, though both Mr. Hillings and myself hope for the best. We tried to get good yearlings in England and all are as well bred as Patersou could buy. There are only two candidates for stakes at Havre do Grace, Top o th Morning and Sjiear Iince the imported colt by Spearmint —Snoot. Several of the two-year-olds are well engaged in the stakes to be run on the local tracks and Huxton will ride for the stable."
