SEVERAL JOCKEY CLUB RULES AMENDED. Allowance to Geldings Continues in Stakes Closed — C. H. Shilling; Denied a License Once More. New York. April 14. — Proceedings of the regular monthly meeting of the Jockey Club, held at the office of the club on Thursday, April 13, at four oclock p. m.: Present: August Belmont. Perry Belmont. C. K. G. Billings. Capt. Edward B. Cassatt. Robert L. Jerry. F. R. Hitchcock, H. K. Knapp. Andrew Miller. Schuyler L. Parsons and F. G. Sturgis. The chairman. August Belmont, presided. On motion duly seconded, the following amendments to the rules of racing were approved: Rule 39 — In tenth line, strike out "five" and substitute "ten" so that this rule will now read: "No name that has been employed during the previous ten years either in the stud or on the turf, shall be duplicated." In rule 4, in the fifth line, strike out: "But should it lie found necessary to add an extra race this rule shall not apply to such race," making rule 4 now read: J "After May 31 ijr each year only one overnight event for a distance of less than a mile for horses three years old and upward shall be given on any race day." On motion and duly seconded, the meeting adjourned. At a meeting of the stewards of the Jockey Club held at the office of the club on Thursday. April at 4:30 oclock p. m., there were present: Aii-gust 113. Belmont. F. G. Sturgis. H. K. Knapp, F. K. Hitchcock, Andrew Miller and Schuyler Parsons. The chairman. August Belmont, presided. On motion duly seconded, it was resolved that the amendment to the rule doing away with the allowance of three pounds to geldings was not retroactive and that geldings were entitled to the three-pound allowance in all stakes which closed prior to the passage of this rule. On motion duly seconded, the following resolutions were adopted. Resolved that. Allan Pinkerton. of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, or his duly authorized representative, he empowered to grant and revoke licenses or permits to all jockeys valets, and it is further Resolved that, once revoked, a license or permit to a jockeys valet con only be restored on the approval of the stewards of the Jockey Club. On motion duly seconded on the report of the license committee, a hearing was granted ex-jockey II. Woods, to be announced later. The application of J. H. Buscher for a trainers license was denied. The implication of Frederick Schenke for a trainers license was denied. The application of Carroll H. Shilling for a jockey license was denied. The application of John Dorsey, ruled off the turf, for reinstatement was denied. Trainers and jockeys licenses were granted as recommended by the license committee. The application of Mortimer J. Murphy for a trainers license was approved.
