NEGOTIATING FOR BIRTHPLACE OF IROQUOIS. New York. April 21. — Word conies from Philadelphia that Mr. George D. Widener. Jr.. is negotiating for the purchase of the historic Erden-heini Farm, the birthplace of Iroquois, the first American horse to win the Epsom Derby. Mr. Widener bought several broodmares some time ago and started a racing career last year with a small stable which did not achieve the success he desired. This year he has some seven horses and has engaged A. .1. .loyner to look after them. All signs point to Mr. Widener becoming one of the leading American breeders should he procure Erdenheim. which he will no doubt stock with select thoroughbreds. With Joyncr in charge of his racing affairs, there is no doubt that Mr. Wideners colors will be prominent in the future. Messrs. 11. K. Knapp. Frank R. Hitchcock and "apt. E. I.. Cass.itt. constituting the rules committee of the laetey Club, held a lengthy meeting today to discuss proposed changes in the rules. They have been at work on the subject for some time and a considerable number of changes have been suggested. It is not likely, however, the revision will lie absolutely decided until the questions have been thrashed out further at future meetings.
