CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. James Fitzimmons has transferred to Maryland from New York his string of thirty-two horses. Part of them went to Havre de Grace, and the rest, in charge of Frank Herold, were shipped to limlico. Big Smoke, Sheriff Bradleys Kentucky Derby candidate, struck himself in his last work-out and, in all probability, cannot be gotten ready for the Kentucky Derby. He is getting along very well, however, there being no fever in his leg last Thursday. He will not be rushed in his work, so look out for him in the Latonia Derby. Recent arrivals at Pimlico included R. J. Walden. with a string of twentv-two belonging to his mother, Mrs. R. W. Walden; A. H. Morris. J. E. D.-.vis and H. W. Maxwell. In company with one of Fred Littlefiolds home-breds, the horses were transferred from Bowling Brook, in Carroll County, Md., and shipped in good condition. The Kentucky Sales Co. announces that the sale advertised for May 8 will not be held. Several breeders, who had intended selling at that time. found it impossible to get their yearlings in condition and the withdrwal of these has left an insufficient number to make an attractive sale. An-iiounct incuts of future sals will be made shortly. My Gyps, twenty -seven years old. by Kyrle Daly — Napa, by Enquirer, foaled on April 16 a bay filly by Pee] oDay. This filly is a sister to Light o My Life, La Mode. John Gund and Frank Coleman, and a half-sister to My Gipsy, Gypsio, Belle Graham and La Blonde. My Gyps has had twelve foals, old enough to race, nine of them being winners, two of them finishing second and one being injured and never in the money. How many thoroughbred mares have produced at twenty -seven years of age or hold a better average than she does? My Gyps will be bred to Rrunimei and may produce another race horse by him.
