CARRANZA WANTS MONEY FROM RACING. Washington. D. C May 5. — Word has reachiel Washington that the Cnrrnnaa government has changed its attitude toward horse racing in Mexico. Sometime ago Carranza planned to abolish the sport and e-Iose- all tracks. Instead of abolishing horse racing, the- Carranza government now preqioses to make K pay revenue. It lias Is-en decided by the de facte gove-rninent to im|Nise a tax of twenty-five per cent on the net re-ceipts from all exhibitions of cock fighting, bull fighting and boxing mate-lies in Mexico and. also, a similar |iereeiitiigc tax on tin- net re-ceipts of all horse rae-ing enterprises. Tiie- new tax will become effective immediately.
