SEAGRAM STABLE MAY MAKE CLEAN SWEEP. Kings Plate at Toronto Regarded as Being at Mercy of President of Ontario Jockey Club. Toronto, Ont.. May IS. — The Brookdale Stables McBride will not be a starter in the Kings Plate. "He does not appear to have a chance and there is little use in tearing him to pieces, sending him such a long journey under the conditions. It might only kill him off for the remainder of the season, but in all probability he will go in the Breeders Stakes " said trainer George Walker. Another day of unpleasant weather conditions surrounded Wednesdays training operations at Woodbine, but a considerable amount of useful work was got through. Among the platers Old Pop and Shrovetide were each sent a mile, Guy Burns being the rider in both cases. Around the "dogs" Old Pop came home in 1:50%, while Shrovetides work was about two seconds slower. The Thorncliffe horses. Fountain Fay and King Hamburg, went their mile in 1:50% and Hampton Dame was a fraction better. Early Bight had a half in 53 and the two-year-olds worked smartly from the barrier. Sir John Hendries Trivet Petal, slowing up in the last part in response to trainer Whytes signals, showed a half in 52%, three-quarters iu 1:19 and a mile in 1:48. the fastest move of the day. The two-year-olds Lone Land and Banyan went three furlongs from the barrier in a shade under 40 seconds. Good Shot had five-eighths in 1-10%. She will go in the Maple Leaf Stakes, but not in the Plate. The Valley Farm representative for the Guineas will be Last Spark, whose last work was a mile in 1:53% and a mile and a quarter in 2:20%, a good gallop, as the last quarter was at a smart pace. It includes the Kings Plater, Johnnie Austin, ready and certain to run for the Guineas. His workmate during his training at Dufferin Park was the thirteen-year-old Billet stallion. Billeneer, which has a two-year-old progeny in training this season. Billeneer, Miss Kapangu. a five-year-old sister to Johnnie Austin, and the three-year-old Meelick filly, Matrix, comprise the rest of the string. It may be considered as definite that neither Armine nor McBride will be among the starters for the Kings Plate but Shrovetide and Johnny Austin can be counted on. in addition to the representatives of Mr. Seagram. Sir John Hendrie and C. A. Crew. F. E. Gaiety, the Windsor candidate, is on the ground, but has not done all the work that his trainer thinks necessary in order to have a chance. Shrovetide will be the banner bearer for Charles Millar, who supplied both first and second horses last year. Johnny Austin has been prepared at Dufferin Park by the original Johnny, who will ride him on Saturday. He looks ready, has been a mile and a quarter around .the small cifrcuit in 2:25 and is now at Woodbine. Guy Burns will ride Shrovetide, while Pickens and "Patsy" Smyth will be on two of the Waterloo horses. No riders have yet been engaged for Old Pop an! Last Spark.
