Louisville1. Ky., June 8. — Varied" weather was again the rule here. It started out at race time with sunshine and good prospects for an ideal day. hut just before the running of the third race came a sliower. which lasted until after the running of the fourth race. The third and fourth races were the outstanding features, resulted ill good contests and the winners made good time in each. Water Witch was tlie winner in the La Orange Handicap with 00 added at one mile and an eighth. The V. .1. Young filly scored in game fashion over Donerail after a strenuous stretch drive. Donerail showed the most speed in the early running and held Hodge safe when it came to the final drive. The third race w:-s at the odd distance of one mile and one hundred yards and Jack ODowds feat of running the distance in 1 :4." V. reduced the former tr: ck record. in:ide hy Lawrence I*. Jack ODowd showed | sensationally high flight of speed during the middle quarter and it carried him into such a long lead tiutt he had the race practically at his mercy when the stretch turn was reached. The Raker-Goose continuation was again conspicuously successful during the day. for Goose accounted for three races, two on Jerry and Fan S. from the Baker stable and another on Water Witch. F.
