NONESUCH set a good pace and held his opponents safe all the way, but had to be ridden out when challenged and was straight at the finisn. RIPOSTA finished fast and gamely when called on for a final effort and was gaining slowly at the end. MOONLIGHTER raced gamely, but could never get up. Won easily; second and third driving. PRINCE HENRY soon took the lead and. setting a good pace under slight restraint, drew away in the homestretch and won with ease, but pulled up distinctly lame. WOODWARD raced in near pursuit of the leader and made a game effort while rounding the far turn, but could never get up. FENMOlSE was in tight quarters for five-eighths and compelled repeatedly to pull up. then tired after entering the homestretch. The others were outpaced. The winner was entered for ,800; no bid. RHINE MAIDEN, after being saved under restraint in the early running, was under hard urging through the final three-eighths and slowly wore HOLIDAY down in the final drive. HOLIDAY set a good pace and. showing excellent speed, hung on gamely when challenged and only succumbed in the c-losing strides. BLUE THISTLE gained rapidly while rounding the far turn, but tired after getting to the leaders. BASIN and MAGNET were always outpaced. Scratched — 26902 Bayberry Candle, 124: 26987=AVoodward. 107. JEM was saved behind the leader until straightened out in the homestretch and, drawing clear after a mild drive, won easing up. GALLOP showed a good order of speed and raced into a long lead on the backstretch. but tired under punishment. STALWART HELEN raced wide around the turn and had to be hard ridden in the stretch to withstand MENLO PARKS challenge. The latter finished fast. The winner was entered for 00: no bid. GLANAGINTY ran green in the early running and finished fast through the homestretch.
