. HAMILTON MEETING BEGINS SPLENDIDLY. An Immense Assemblage of Spectators Applauds . the Winners of the First Days Races. . Hamilton, Ont.. June 24.— The Hamilton Jockey . Clubs inaugural meeting of the racing season of 1916 Itegan today under mosr favorable auspices. A record-breaking crowd was in attendance. It took two big special trains to bring the crowd from Toronto, while Buffalo was also well represented. The pari-mutnels had their introduction here this afternoon and they went with a rush. The plant is said to be the best on this continent and no ! trouble was experienced by bettors in getting their wagers down. The card was an excellent one and furnished exciting sport. Rancher beat a band of sprinters in . the three-quarters handicap and the favorite. Fair AL.ntague, won the Dominion Plate. The race for steeplechasers, which was run on the flat over the main track without obstacles, went to Cu Bon. Henry AIcDaniel s iddled the winner of the nrst race in the good -looking colt. Incog, which beat : his opponents in easy fashion. E. Bathman was an arrival from New York. Air. I. A. OAIeara of Quebec purchased this morning the Canadian bred horse Coin Broom and | turned him over to H. G. Bedwell to train. Corn , Broom is a horse of moods and when he takes a , notion to run can hold his own with any of the . Canadian breds. Bob Potee was an arrival from Baltimore. He • will remain on the Canadian circuit for the rest of f the racing season. Mr. Potee brought the news i that William Jennings and A. G. Weston acted 1 as judges at the Gentlemens Driving Park meeting and that they filled their positions in a capable • manner. The horses were called to the post for the opening race at 2:30. Roddy Alarshall was an arrival this morning. He motored from Pittsburgh with his family and 1 will remain here for a couple of months. Air. Marshalls horses have been here for several days. Thev are in charge of A. B. Goode. Jockevs Joe Dreyer, D. Hoffman, Paul Lowder. , W. A." Carroll and J. Kederis were arrivals. . Dreyer. Hoffman and Lowder came from New York i and the others from Kentucky. Sam Louis has purchased the plater Boxer from 1 I. Raymond and turned him over to James Johnston. W. O. Parmer got in from Tennessee and acted 1 as one of the honorary stewards. Judge Mouck • was the other honorary steward. I. Hoffman will do the riding for Mrs. L. A. • Livingstons stable in Canada this year. F. Alusante came from Baltimore with five horses, the property of J. F. Sweeney. W. A. McKinney was an arrival from Alontreal I with the horses Dundreary and Alud Sill. He will I continue through the remainder of the circuit with ■ his stable. Dundreary won ten races at Juarez last t winter. _
