JANE STRAITH was forced back on the first turn, but finished fast and resolutely under hard urging. BUSY JOE began slowly and dropped back in the first quarter, but saved much ground on the turns and. after closing a gap, tired near the end. BLANCH ITA had no mishaps. INSURGENT was always outpaced. PARAMOUNT lost ground on the turns, but finished gamely. PIRAEUS showed speed, but tired in the last eighth and lost ground by coming wide on the last turn.
