HIGH-CLASS MARES FOR ELLERSLIE. Lexington, Ky., July 13. Arthur R. Hancock, Ellerslie Stud, has just received five or six thoroughbred mares, three of them with foals at foot, recently purchased in England. Three came over on the Minnehaha last week with Johnson N. Camdens stallion Light ISrigade and the mare Double Dark and her handsome colt foal by Matchmaker. The sixth mare. Silent Queen and her suckling bay colt by Santry, will come over on the next trip of the same boat. Silent Queen this year is mated with Thrush. She is a sister to Rraxted and Mcr-cutio. The mares which have just been taken from New York to Hancocks Airginia farm are Merriment and a filly by Spanish Prince; Primula and a colt by Spanish Prince: Cerium, Patricia IV. and a filly foal by Adam Rede and Princess Caprice The lirst named three mares were bred by J. 15. Joel, from whom their new owner purchased and they are all bred to Rlack Jester. Merriment is a four-year-old daughter of Sund-ridge and Marion Hood; Primula is four and is by St. Denis Little Primose dam of six winners. Cerium is six, by Sundridge Isis, a winning daughter of Isinglass. Patrieia IV. is seven, by Ard Patrick Princess Patti. She was bred in Germany by Herr C." G. Mueller and was sent to England in 1913. She is bred to Juhior. Princess Caprice is five, by Marco Royal Marriage, and was bred by the late Major Fife. She was mated this year to Llungibby.
