FOltT ERIE MEETING TODAY DOMINION HANDICAP THE CENTRAL ATTRACTION OF AN EXCELLENT CARD. Some Speedy Sprinters to Measure Strides at Tlirce-Quartcrs of a Mile More and Better Horses Available Than at the First Meeting. Fort Erie, Out.. August 4. The Dominion Handicap, one of the rcihest races of the Canadian circuit, is offered as an attraction by the Xiagara Racing Association for the opening of its final meeting of this year at Fort Erit; tomorrow. It is a dash of one mill; and a quarter with ,000 added. There ."re six named to start, for the race, including Borrow, Boots. Rancher, Thornhill, All Smiles and Pif Jr. The Whitney horse is top weight and jockey Joe Xotter is expected here from Saratoga to ride him. The imported horse Boots, which has been racing so well for John Whalen, arrived in good condition from Xev, York. Jockey Fairbrother eeompanieil the stable and will have the mount on him tomorrow. A handicap at three-quarters is an added feature :ind it has brought together a field of good-class horses, some of the best sprinters racing on the circuit being among the nine that have accepted weights. Kewessa, which got. in from Xew York yesterday, is one of the number. The card is a good one uuil with every indication pointing to a remarkably fast track, some spirited racing should be witnessed. There are more horses here than for the first meeting and. better still, they are of better class. Four carloads arrived from Chicago, including the horses of D. A. OMenra, II. G. Bed well, T. P. Hayes, C. X. Freeman, T. F. Buckley, J. Me-Kinuey, M. Lowenstein and J. G refer. Mose Goldblatt is lien; with the division of the Jefferson Livingston stable that lie raced on the Xew York tracks. Mrs. G. I,. Peine, whose Republican has been running so well on the metropolitan tracks, sent up Kathryn Gray and Af ternight, and J. B. Dunn brought Monocracy for Mrs. T. Trovato. John Whalen brought Roots, Little Nearer. Little Dipper. Lily Heavens. Pullux and Biddy OConnor. He will remain here until the conclusion of the meeting, when ho will ship to Saratoga. He has seven horses at the springs, including Buskin. W. L. Oliver brought up five horses from New York. He expects an addition to his string in the three-year-old Eil Bond, which was left at Montreal last spring. Kewessa, the star of the stable, has rounded into good form again. Roscoe Goose and L. II. Adair motored over from Hamilton. They will remain for a few days before continuing on to Saratoga. It is said that Edward Jasper has been offered the position of racing secretary by the Business Mens Racing Association, which will conduct the meeting at Essex Park next fall. In the event of jockey T. McTaggart coming up to ride the Harry Payne Whitney horses he will have the mount on Kewessa in the sprint handicap. If he fails to put in an appearance. Fairbrother will have the mount on the Oliver sprinter. T. I. Hayes has in the string he shipped over from Chicago J. Spencers Blackie Daw and the good two-year-old lilly, Auriga. He also has Floral Park, Jack OOowd, Kinney and El Rey in his hand. M. Lowenstein brought two from Chicago, including his own Birka and T. F. Buckleys Wanda Pitzer. AVilliam Shields is looked for from Hamilton on Saturday with a division of the stable he is training for various owners. Commonada is still at Hamilton. The horse came out of his last race in bad condition and his owner. Al Austin, is not quite certain how serious the injury is. Reybourn is reported to have broken down after a work-out this morning.
