CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Goldcrest Roy was claimed at Saratoga upon the occasion of his last start by J. W. Iledrick. Jasper, which will carry the colors of J. F. Flanagan, Jr.. in the Harbor Hill Cup. was recently purchased by that sportsman from George J. Long on the strength of his excellent schooling. The thoroughbred Rernays, which, when a three-year-old. ran third when The Picket won the American Derby, is reported to be engaged in drawing a milk wagon at flic farm of X. B. Davis near .Milan, Ind. It would be of interest to know just what is the matter with Harry Kelly. This extremely fast colt was supposed to be iu reserve for the rich Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga, but the fact that, he was sent to Kentucky before the race came off argues that there is something radically wrong iu his condition. Sil.is Veitch lias arrived at Relmont Park with his string of eleven jumpers. The animals in his string are the property of different owners, including Phil T. Xhinn. Charles R. Fleischnianu. Joseph F. Flanagan, II. II. Hewitt. Harry Lee. of Roston, and Mrs. Alfred E. Deiterich. of Millhrook. X. V. Some of the eleven, including Mr. Fleischinanns Ahara, have not raced through the field, but all are being schooled for jumping and are showing considerable aptitude. Roy Johns, an American who has lived for a considerable time in Porto Rico, is visiting the Ixing Island tracks with the .view of picking up half a dozen or more moderate-priced thoroughbreds to ship to that tropical island to take part in the racing. He is acting in the Interest of the Porto Rico Jockey Club, a racing organization which owns a half-mile track in San Juan, where races are held each Sunday and holidays throughout the year. He has purchased Scrapper from Capt. E. R. Cassatt and is negotiating for others.
