D0RYAL TRACK IN DIFFICULT CONDITION. Celto Defeats Ormulu in a Close Finish Wise Man an Easy Winner Track Talk. Montreal. Que. September 18. W. Shields saddled the winner of todays feature race at Dorval, an allowance affair at one mile and twenty yards, in which Dr. J. S. Tyrees handsome fillv. Celto, beat Ormulu by a neck after a long and hard stretch drive. Celto was ridden by Robinson and. after being under restraint in the early running, sprinted into a long lead when entering the homestretch. At the end Celto tired badly, but. thanks to Robinsons energetic finish, she lasted long enough. Ormulu was much the best and. with riders reversed, would have won off by herself. Hayes got her into trouble several times during the race and when she finally got a clear course, she finished with a rush. The races were run under bright skies and over a drying-out track that was deep and heavy in spots. The harrows were kept at work all afternoon and the footing should be fairly good by tomorrow. Wise Man found no trouble in beating the band of maidens he met in the third race, "a dash of three-quarters, which he won by a half dozen lengths. Celto was the fifth winner that trainer Shields has sent to the post during the meeting. He has finally succeeded iu rounding the Tyree horses into condition and, during the remainder of the racing season, they should give a good account of themselves. fl had a tough contract on his hands in building King Neptune up, but this skillful young trainer has succeeded in bringing him back to the races as good a horse as he ever was. Several stables left Blue Bonnets this afternoon for Toronto and Maryland. The stables of George M. Heudrie, J. S. Hendrie, .1. E. Seagram and William Stormont went to the Woodbine track, while W. Ii. Mizell and Peter Sheridan sent their horses to Havre de Grace. Jockey W. Ward was suspended for the rest of the meeting by the starter for disobedience at the post. Jockey A. Pickens accompanied the Seagram stable to Toronto. Jack Atkin, who is extensively interested in the Tijuana track, was an arrival this morning. Mr. Atkin will have charge of the betting ring at the Kempton Park meeting. Tin? suspension imposed on jockey L. Lykes by the starter was lifted and the lad rode iu several of the races this afternoon. Lykes will ride in Cuba next winter. Sheridan Clark, who acts as racing secretary at Dorval, has arranged to leave for Windsor on Saturday. Mr. Clark will be the presiding judge at the meeting to be given at the Devonshire Park track. Capt. W. F. Presgrave goes from here to Baltimore at the conclusion of the Dorval meeting. Jockey L. McAtee left for Maryland tonight. He will join the Thomas Clyde stable that, is being raced at navre de Grace by A. G. Weston. W. Martin, who will act as official timer at Kempton Park, will finish out the season on the Canadian circuit at the Kenilworth and Devonshire meetings. The E. T. Zollicoffer stable at the conclusion of the Woodbine meeting will be shipped to Devonshire Park. The latter is getting many recruits from among the better class of horsemen and all indications are that it will have a successful meeting.
