ONE MORE FOR MACOMBER HANK ODAY WINS ANOTHER RACE FOR THE NOV FORTUNATE TURFMAN. Berlin Wins from Basil and Cudgel with Auriga Unplaced Brizz Takes His Race and Is Bid Up Yeager Estate Racers Sell Well. Louisville, Ky., September 21. An improved program produced better racing at Douglas Park this afternoon ami also resulted in more enjoyment for a crowd of splendid proportions. A. K. Maeombers colors were again conspicuous when Hank ODay gave a pleasing exhibition in the feature race, a handicap at tliree-ouarters, when he won from Vogue after appearing to be a hopeless proposition. Trainer Walter Jennings lias this racer in superb form at present and hi clearlv showed it when he came 011 to win easily after running far behind such speedy ones as Vogue and Roscou Goose for the first half mile. Hi moved up like a rocket, though coming wide on the stretch turn and. finishing with a great rush, wtn with much ease. Another form reversal developed this afternoon with the running of the third race, in which Berlin was the victor over Basil, with Cudgel third and the favorite. Auriga, unplaced. All three of the placed horses were badly beaten in their previous starts and sadly lacking in speed. Todav they were close contenders all the way and fought out the linish stubbornly. Aurigas effort was also in contrast to her preceding good one, Gentrys riding of her being decidedly bad. Mr. Macomber should have accounted for the opener, but the diminutive Phillips found Sun Bonnet more than a handful to guide and, when he became involved in trouble on the stretch turn, could not extricate himself in time and the filly was defeated by Meliora by the shortest or margins. J. F. Schorrs Brizz had an easy time in landing the second race from Worlds Wonder and Stephen R.. but after the finish the owner had to pav 05 to retain the horse. R. o. Martin advanced him that sum over his entered price of 00. "It is the present intention to send all of Mr. Maeombers horses to Charleston, S. C, where they will be; wintered," said trainer W. B. Jennings. "It is likewise my intention to return the horses to Louisville about a month before the running of the Kentucky Derby to linish no the training of those we intend starting in that" event." Jockey J. Loftus, who will ride for Mr. .Macomber next year, will, according to the terms of the contract, report on February 1, but has signified his intention of going to Charleston earlier, with a view of galloping some of the horses and keeping in riding trim. At the dispersal sale of the late J. C. Yeagers horses held in the Douglas Park paddock before the racing this afternoon. Huntress went to W. Perkins for ,200. Luzzi went to Frazier and Farris for ,100; Ginger Quill to C. K. Hamilton for 50: Pluto, to W. i:. Applegate for 1916.sh50 and Charlie Kd to G. Grant for 0. Secretary J. R. Campbell received a request today from Joseph A. Murphy that he secure a list of owners here who intend to race in New Orleans the coming winter and to forward the list to Mr. Murphy, with a view of getting a thorough line on the number of horses that will be shipped to the Fair Grounds. If necessary additional stables will be built for their accommodation. Frank J. Rrueii, who is looking after the interests of the Havana meeting here, stated that Jefferson Livingston, J. B. Goodman, A. L. Austin. W. F. Schulte, C. K. Hamilton and II. B. Gorin have signified an intention of racing in Cuba the coming winter. J. B. Respess was among the visitors this afternoon. W.
