MELIORA, away forwardly and showing high speed, set a fast pace and held on well in the final drive, but just lasted long enough to win. SUNBONNET was much the best, but could not get through in the stretch, her rider being unequal to getting her out of difficulty in time, but she finished like a shot. LATONIA began tiring after being a close contender for a half mile. IMMENSE ran well. SNOAVDU1FT was away poorly. HESTER SMITH finished well. Overweights I.atonia. 1 pound. AVORLDS AVONDER began slowly, but closed a big gap in the stretch and got up in the last strides for second place. STEPHEN R. set a fast pace for five-eighths and tired. HAPENNY ran well. OLD BOB came fast near the end. EDDIE DELLING quit. The winner, entered for 400, was bid up to 005 and bought in. CUDGEL, suddenly improved, closed a good gap from a slow beginning and finished gamely. JUDGE YOUNG set a fast pace, but failed to stay the route.
