1 1 , . j i i j i : 1 , GOING ON WELL AT DEVONSHIRE. 1 Windsor, Ont., October 2. The feature race of j the second day of the inaugural meeting at Devon- shire Park was won by George E. Phillips Foxy Griff in little less than a canter. Foxy Griff fol- lowed the early leaders and went to the front j when called on. Christie, the favorite, ran a poor , race. He was rushed to the front at the start 1 and quit badly when challenged. f There was a fair crowd in attendance and the 1 public .Jatronized the mutuels liberally. Prices on the various winners were good. The plant is rapidly nearing completion and ap- peared to much better advantage than on the opening day. : Francis J. Pons was a visitor at the course today and saw his colors carried to victory by ; Boneros First and Swift Fox. Jockey Ted Rice arrived here today from To- ; ronto, where he rode Fair Mac to victory in the Ontario Jockey Club Cup at Woodbine on Saturday. 1 Grant Hugh Browne, who is president of the 5 Devonshire Park Association, owns Fair Mac. Capt. W. J. Press of Ottawa, arrived here today ; with his stable. These horses have raced over the Canadian circuit all summer. j Jockey A. Pickens was an arrival from Toronto ; and will ride as a free lance here. Premo Vera was placed on the schooling list for ; fractiousness at the barrier. : Luzzi, winner of the sixth race, was claimed for 1 50 by W. Birnie. !
