FAIRY WAND was a close contender from the start and outstayed YANKEE WITCH in the final drive. The latter set a fast early pace and tired in the last fifty yards. TOM McTAGGART had a rough race. SPUR was far back in close quarters ; for three-quarters and forced to overcome interference, but finished with a rush. STROMBOLI raced gamely, but tired after moving up menacingly at the eighth post. FLI TTERG OLD ran well. CRIMPER "was eased up when beaten. FERNROCIC set a great pace and tired. ROAMER tired. PORT LIGHT was well saved until straightened out in the homestretch, then raced up fast and easily passed TRUE AS STEEL, hut had to he ridden out to outstay PULLUX. The latter was kicked while at the post and began slowly, but ran well and was gaining fast at the finish. BETWEEN US closed a big gap and outstayed BUCK SHOT. The latter finished gamely. TRUE AS STEEL tired after setting a fast pace to the stretch. MURPHY and MARSE HENRY quit. The winner was entered for ,S0O; no hid.
