YEARLINGS OF THE THORNCLIFFE STABLE. Toronto, Ont., October 20. Tim Thorncliffe Stable horses, in charge of trainer William McDaniel, arc still at Woodbine and will be for a few weeks yet until the yearlings have been tried and seasoned. The youngsters in the string this fall number only five, hardly half as many as last year. They are as follows: Loxon, b. c, by Sain Picturesque. Pleasure Beat, b. g, by Nealon Frolic. Royal Navy, b. g, by Nealon Mrs. Frank Foster. Lord Kitchener, ch. g. by Orme Shore Fair Annie. General Jolfrc, b. g, by Orme Shore Minnie G. ioxon is an exceptionally fine-looking colt and built on speedy lines. He has been worked a quarter close to twentv-four seconds and has not as yet been asked to do his best. He is a half-brother to the speedy two-year-old filly. Graphic, winner of many races this year in the ThornclifTe colors. If appearances count for anything this colt should develop into a top-notcher. Loxon was purchased in the United States last year, but the remaining four youngsters are products of the ThornclifTe stud, consequently they are eligible to the Kings Plate and all other stake events for province-bred. Of the others. Lord Kitchener is most fancied by trainer McDaniel. He is probably the finest-looking yearling ever turned out at Thorncliffe Farm and will compare favorably with the best to lie found anywhere, no is a strapping fellow, stoulty built uud of grand conformation. Lord Kitchener will be the first of the get of that sterling long-distance racer. Fair Annie, to go to the races. Royal Navy is also of good size and appearance and will be one of the first of the sons of Nealon, the Suburban Handicap winner, to carry the Thorncliffe colors. His dam, Mrs. Frank Foster, was a speedy racer, but as yet her progeny have failed to inherit much of her speed. This youngster seems likely to prove an exception. Pleasure Bent, another son of Nealon, also has any number of good qualities. He too, is stoutly built and has been going along in a manner satisfactory to trainer McDaniel. Frolic, the dam of Pleasure Bent, and herself a Canadian-bred, ran many good races in the Davies colors, particularly over the longer routes. The patriotically-named General .Toffre is a half-brother to Britannia, which Avon four races for the Thorncliffe Stable this year before she went wrong. This is another well-turned youngster and what the stable is lacking in numbers in the yearling department this fall is evidently made up in quality. The two-year-old Impress, which met with a slight accident last spring while being schooled at the barrier and was turned out all summer, was taken up some time ago and is with the remainder of the stable at Woodbine. This youngster outworked Britannia until she met with the mishap which caused her to be thrown out of training. She has been working well this fall and will be pointed for the Kings Plate next May.
